Gboyega Isiaka (GNI) Knocks Ogun's U.S.$3.2 Billion Rail Project

Abeokuta — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State at the April 11 poll, Gboyega Isiaka, has described the $3.2billion light rail contract signed by the Ogun State government as another outlandish project, which will only impoverish the citizens of the state more.

Isiaka stated this while addressing journalists in Abeokuta on his resolve to approach the gubernatorial election petitions tribunal to challenge the result of the governorship poll which returned the incumbent governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun for another term of four years.

The Ogun state government had last Monday signed a multi-billion dollar intra and inter city light rail contract with China Civil Engineering and Construction Company, CCECC, at the Banquet Hall of Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

Speaking further, Isiaka expressed dismay over Ogun state government's insensitivity to the plights of the citizens quizzing the economic and environmental impact such project will have upon the economy and the geography of the state respectively.

He further chided the state government for leaving projects capable of having direct socio-economic impact on the people and embarked on 'humongous project'.

While challenging the state government to inform the people how it intended to finance the rail project, Isiaka wondered when the government would start giving the people what they really want rather than what the government wants.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that he had obtained the copies of the complete result of the April 11 governorship election and ready to challenge the result at the election petitions tribunal.

"Let it be stated that I have obtained copies of the results and have done our due diligence on it. We have gotten briefs from our officers on the field that day and I must state that the result is a manifestation of unprecedented manipulation, falsification of results, usage of uncollected PvCs by unauthorised and unaccredited APC supporters, usage of fake polling booths and several other infractions. All these are in the open and we shall not allow the will of the masses to be truncated". Isiaka submitted.
