OOU’s Acting VC commend Ogun Police Command

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Professor Saburi Adesanya, has commended the Ogun State Police Command for its efforts at ensuring the security of life and property in the
society.

Professor Adesanya gave the commendation when he led the management team of the University on a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikemefuna Okoye, at the State Force Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta recently.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, who reiterated the importance of security, particularly in university communities, said students were to be monitored and guided in the course of growth and development for them to be good future leaders.

According to  a release by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sam Oyeleye,  the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adesanya,  said it was desirable to have students of globally acceptable standard, asserting that  “what we want is an institution that will rival the best in the world;  therefore, attitude needs to be controlled.” He added that the university culture would be entrenched while assistance would be given to the Police on issues of common interest at all times.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police who described himself as an Apostle of community policing, lauded the gesture of the visit by the OOU Management, affirming that community policing  “helps in information gathering,” CP Okoye, who said there must be public safety and security in the state disclosed that officers of his command “are very responsive to distress calls” and pledged the support of the police to the university.
