Police commences probe of Apagun’s call logs

The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, said it  has commenced investigations into the mysterious death of Chairman of Abeokuta Golf Resort, Apagun Oluwole Olumide.

It will be recalled that the corpse of  Olumide, an Egba High Chief,  was found in the artificial lake of Golf Resort last week Friday, after he  came back from the Lagos office of the Economic and Fianacial Crimes Commission, EFCC,

His remains were buried on Monday after an autopsy was conducted on his body at the Neuro-psychiatry Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta at the instance of  police.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said  the Police had commenced scientific investigations, assuring that police would do their  best to unravel the circumstance that led to his
death.

He said: “We have some information about SMS or messages sent out by the chief before his death. So, we are working on it to make sure we get the call logs of the High Chief to know how far it’s true.

“We have information at hand but we need to have expert opinion too to professionally or scientifically prove that it’s true.

“We have seen some of these messages; we still want to get to the service providers to download the transaction of the deceased before he died.

“This is a serious and sensitive issue which requires scientific investigations; and that’s exactly what we are doing, we will leave no stone unturned.”

Meanwhile, kinsmen of the late Olumide, in diaspora yesterday raised alarm over the death of the Egba high chief, saying that they suspected foul play.
