Governor Amosun signing the 2014 Budget
Speaking shortly before signing the bill in his Oke-Mosan office, Governor Amosun commended the legislature for its speedy passage and assured that the executive arm would implement the budget to the letters, expressing optimism that it would go a long way in consolidating the “Mission to Rebuild” in the coming year.

Governor Amosun explained that his administration was desirous of becoming self-sustaining in terms of revenue generation to finance its five cardinal programmes as it does not want to be relying on the monthly federal allocation.

”We are expanding our industrial base everyday. We are on the aggressive in the area of agriculture. We believe when we get those areas right, it will help us to plough back into other areas of what I call social services such as education, health, infrastructure”, the Governor stated.

Speaking further, Amosun said “security is key for any state’s economy to grow, that is why we will not relent in our effort to ensure that our people are secured. You would have also noticed that Ogun State is cleaner now and getting better everyday because of our efforts of achieving a good environment”

He therefore urged the people to complement government’s efforts by paying their taxes promptly, promising that “the government would in no way overburden its people”

In his remarks earlier, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi who presented a clean copy of the Bill noted that Governor Amosun had been providing purposeful leadership, understanding and co-operation, saying all these had helped to enhance development of the State.

While submitting that government had continually worked to make living more abundant for the people, Rt. Hon. Adekunbi expressed optimism that residents would enjoy more dividends of democracy in the coming year.

“We believe that Ogun State people have had it better in this out-going year and we believe we will enjoy the best of the best in the coming year”, he said.
