18 Year Old Girl Becomes Youngest Barrister (Lawyer) in UK in 600 Years

Gabrielle Turnquest is a remarkable woman. At the young age of 18 she is the youngest qualified barrister in Wales and England. She is also the youngest person to ever pass the Bar exam. At the age of just 17 she got her Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law. The average age of lawyers who take the Bar is 27.

Gabrielle does not want to be a lawyer in the UK however so she is returning to her home state of Florida where she hopes to become a fashion lawyer. In the UK she would have to study for another year before she would be able to work. She is also thinking about becoming a lawyer in the Bahamas as she was called to the Bar there and that is where her parents are from.

Gabrielle is very humble about her accomplishments and during an interview with the Daily Telegraph she told them that she didn't even realize that she was the youngest to pass the Bar and didn't really know the full impact it really had. At the age of 16 she had made history being the youngest person to get an undergraduate degree in psychology which she got at Liberty University which is in Virginia.

Before 2009 this would not have been possible for Gabrielle as the youngest age that someone could be called to the Bar was 21, but a law was passed that removed that restriction. She will now be attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising so that she can get into the fashion law market. She will also be sitting for the multi-state Bar in the US.
