Ogun West: APC, PDP Senatorial Candidates Shun Debate

The Senatorial Candidates of Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Lai Taiwo, and All Progressives Congress [APC], Gbolahan Dada, on Monday shunned the political debate organised by the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists [NUJ].

The debate, which was organised for the Senatorial Candidates from the Ogun West Senatorial District took place at Empire Hall, Ilaro, with candidates of Social Democratic Party, Biyi Otegbeye; and Lekan Orisabiyi of Labour Party honouring the invitation.

The organisers waited for over an hour beyond the scheduled time of 2.00 p.m. and when the PDP and APC candidates did not arrive, the programme took off at 3.00p.m.

The chairs reserved for the candidates of the APC and PDP remained empty till the end of the debate.

The attendees, Biyi Otegbeye(SDP) and Lakan Orisabiyi(LP), spoke about programmes they would initiate at the Senatorial District if elected.

The public and members of the civil society also had the opportunity to ask the candidates questions.
