Wear Made-in-Nigeria Fabrics - Commissioner tells Nigerians

Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Yewande Amusan, charges Nigerians to always put on attires that would project the country’s rich cultural values. She gave the charge at the African Fashion Week held in Lagos.

She hinted that's the only way the country could regain the cultural values that had been lost.

Mrs Amusan stated that her ministry had been showcasing different designs made from local fabrics (adire) within and outside the country in order to promote and project the image of the state and the nation in general.

She further promised that the ministry would soon organise fashion shows in the state and neighbouring states, as well as foreign countries.

Mrs Ade Adebakare, the main designer of the ministry,  stressed that  Nigerians and Africans in general should endeavour to preserve their cultural orientation by putting on clothes made from local fabrics, adding that this would encourage African designers to produce more indigenous fabrics and designs.
