Police meet Ogun PDP warring chiefs

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of Lagos and Ogun, Mr Mamman Tsafe,  on Wednesday in Abeokuta, held a closed-door meeting with warring factions of the PDP in Ogun state.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Mr Ikemefuna Okoye, also attended the meeting, aimed at ensuring peace and harmony in the state.

Disagreement over the party’s leadership and who occupies the party’s secretariat led to the crisis, which has been raging since last year.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Tsafe said the meeting was to fashion out an amicable solution to the crisis.

According to him, ‘’our (police) major interest is to see that the party does not allow its internal crisis to affect other segments of the society.

‘’I came to intervene in the intra-party quagmire that has to do with the control of the party leadership.

‘’We had an interesting discussion with the factions and I have strong conviction that they have the capacity to resolve it amicably very soon,‘’ he said.

The police chief assured the public that police would do its best to ensure that law and order were not broken in the state.
