Amosun Congratulates Muslims

Abeokuta — Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of this year's Ramadan fast.

In his message to Muslims in the state, he urged them to put into practice all that they learnt during the holy month.

The governor noted that despite all odds, the country is still on course. In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mrs Funmi Wakama, Amosun said the celebration of this year's Eid el fitri should mark a turning point for all Nigerians.

"The lessons of piety, self discipline, spiritual awareness, brotherliness, love and compassion imbibed during Ramadan, if allowed to guide our future private and public conduct, will bring within our reach and attainment the dreams of our founding fathers for a peaceful and prosperous nation," he said.

He called on Muslims to lead the campaign for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians and respect for the sanctity of life, adding that "Islam is a religion of peace."

The Chief Imam of Egbaland, Imam Liadi Orunsolu, thanked the governor for the rehabilitation of the eid ground, which he said has made it a world class praying ground.
