Ogun plans to modernise Ake Sport Centre



The Ake Sport Centre, Ijaiye, Abeokuta may soon be modernised as Governor Ibikunle Amosun as promised to renovate the facilities to international standard.

Amosun made this statement recently when he paid a courtesy visit to athletes at the sport centre in Abeokuta.

The athletes had performed impressively well at the just concluded Southwest Team Sport elimination in
Ibadan. Team Ogun qualifying for nine of 13 sports categories available.

Amosun expressed his dismay at the state of disrepair of the 25-year-old sport centre. He commended Team Ogun athletes for excelling at different national and international competitions given the state of the facilities available to them for training.

He then promised to revamp all the facilities as a way of creating enabling environment for sport development so that the athletes will continue to give-out their best.

The governor also urged the athletes to do the state proud at the forthcoming National Sports Festival, tagged “Eko 2012”.
