Ogun to Shut Illegal Schools

The Ogun state government has announced plans to clamp down on illegal private nursery and primary schools operating in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Mr Kayode Oduyebo, spoke about government plans last week, adding that government would also prosecute owners of such schools who had failed to revalidate their status with the ministry.

The spokesman quoted Barr. Segun Odubela, the Commissioner for Education as saying that the move
became necessary to ensure qualitative education in the state.

The commissioner told parents and guardians to be cautious in enrolling their children and wards in unregistered schools to avoid embarrassment.

He urged them to check out the list of private schools approved by the government on the website of the ministry or in its zonal offices in the 20 Local Government Areas of the state. Click here to check online now!

Last month, the government embarked on registration and revalidation of private nursery and primary schools operating in the state.
