Nigeria: Toure Expresses Confidence in Nigeria's Broadband Plan


The Secretary General of the International telecommunication Union, ITU, Dr Hamadoun Touré, Wednesday in Abuja expressed confidence in the implementation of the Nigerian National Broadband plan.
Touré spoke through video conference during the Nigerian ICT Centenary conference and Award 2014 organized by the ICT Media Initiative, saying that the country has laid a solid foundation for the implementation of the broadband plan through the Open Access Model.
The plan developed by the Presidential Committee on Broadband is expected to address the national broadband challenges in the country.
According to him, discipline and collective commitment were needed for the full implementation of broadband strategy in the country.
His words: "I am very confident that Nigeria will achieve the broadband plan approved by President Goodluck Jonathan. Broadband roll out and access will help build strong communities and bridge digital divide."
