We Are Ready To Tackle Cultist- Ogun CP

The commissioner of police, Ogun State command, Ikemefuna Okoye, has assured the people of the state of the command’s resolve to continue to tackle cultists and their illegal activities.

Okoye made this known yesterday while addressing senior officers of the command in Abeokuta on the general security of the state with specific focus on Ijebu Ode axis where the command has recorded some killings amongst cult members in recent times, coupled with the plan to have a hitch-free Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode today.

The commissioner confirmed the arrest of some cult members of Eye (Air lords) and Aiye (Black Axe) confraternities who have been attacking one another in Ijebu Ode axis where two members of the cult groups have been confirmed dead, with particular emphasis on the clash between Eye and Aiye groups that occurred at Aleke Okesopin, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State yesterday.

Dangerous weapons recovered from the groups include cutlasses, pairs of scissors, two guns, some expended and live cartridges, their groups’ paraphernalia and some charms.

The corpses of the deceased members, Abiodun Adeniye, 28, and Taiwo Yusuf, 24, have been deposited in a mortuary in Ijebu for post-mortem.

Okoye directed all relevant anti-crime teams in the command to relocate temporarily to Ijebu axis for adequate protection of lives and property and to curtail any cult clashes and other social vices.

He also appealed to the people of Ijebu Ode and Ogun State in general to collaborate with the police and other security agencies for them to succeed in the war against cultism in the state and accord security to all.
